Poetic Kinetics creates the kind of large-scale festival art installations that define an event — iconic, often mobile or interactive centerpieces seen at Coachella, EDC, and Burning Man. Built to withstand crowds and the elements, our pieces become the backdrop for a million photos and the image the festival is remembered by. Poetic Kinetics is rooted in the festival world. At Burning Man in 2005, founder Patrick Shearn pioneered a new, performance-based art form using disguised heavy machinery — beginning with Hope Flower and Venus Flytrap. That series led to some of the most recognizable artworks in festival history, roaming the grounds and coming alive with the crowd.

- Yes. Alongside original commissions, Poetic Kinetics offers rentable works — including the Enchanted Trees traveling exhibit — that can be booked for a single venue or a multi-stop tour, which is faster and more cost-effective than a custom build.
- Festival installations range from human-scale to monumental, and many are mobile — designed to roam the grounds and move with the crowd rather than sit as a static prop. We engineer each piece for its site, crowd flow, and safety.
- Engage as early as possible — several months at minimum for a custom build. Early involvement gives the most design freedom and the best chance of hitting a fixed event date.
- Requirements depend on the artwork, but typically include a suitable footprint, safe audience circulation, installation access, anchoring or ballast, and access to power where needed. We review the site plan early and coordinate directly with production, engineering, and safety teams.
- Yes. Selected works can be reconfigured for a new site, scale, run length, or audience flow. Adapting an existing installation can shorten the schedule while still creating an experience that feels specific to the festival and its setting.
