Patrick Shearn is an American artist, the founder and Creative Director of Poetic Kinetics, and the creator of the studio’s signature Skynet Art Series. His large-scale kinetic installations transform civic spaces, festivals, and cultural destinations into shared experiences shaped by wind, light, and movement.

Shearn began his creative career in the film industry, contributing to projects including Jurassic Park, Fight Club, and Interview with the Vampire. That experience developed the technical fluency and practical imagination that now allow Poetic Kinetics to move ambitious ideas from an initial sketch to complex, site-responsive artworks.

His practice explores the contrast between organic movement and the rigid forms of the built environment. Through immersive public art, Shearn invites curiosity, surprise, and a renewed awareness of place—an approach the studio describes as “cerebral detonation.”
